Naomi will be presenting her latest work at the GRC Chronobiology Conference in Stowe, Vermont. She will be presenting a poster titled "Cognitive dysfunction in circadian disruption and aging", where she shows new data using in vivo biosensors demonstrating that the prefrontal cortex shows a very clear rhythm of extracellular lactate that is significantly blunted by disruption of circadian timing. Since lactate is a major fuel source for neurons, we think this may mean that brain energy utilization is compromised when the circadian clock is disrupted. Naomi also won a Carl Storm Under Represented Minority travel award for the meeting. Congratulations Naomi!
